Folks, let me tell you about Mr. Marcus. He's not just another voice in the AI chatter - he's one of the key players shaping the conversation. Now, some might think he's a bit of a Debbie Downer when it comes to AI, but here's the kicker: few people are rooting for AI's success as hard as this guy. Maybe that's why he's a tad disappointed with how things are panning out.

In a recent LinkedIn post, he really hit the nail on the head. Remember his 2018 arxiv paper, 'Deep Learning: A Critical Appraisal'? He laid out 10 concerns about language models (deep learning) not delivering the goods and suggested a different route to AGI. Funny enough, Yann LeCun strongly disagreed back then, but this year he's singing the same tune as Mr. Marcus - without admitting he missed the mark in 2018. Talk about a plot twist!
